This canyon is near São Vincente on the north coast inside the laurel forest and has technical rappels up to 60 meters. The canyon can only be done after having done the Ribeira Funda canyon or if you can show us that you have the experience in a similar kind of canyon.
We start with a nice 30 minutes walk to access the canyon along the Fajã do Rodrigue. From the levada we descend into the canyon. In total this canyon has 13 different rappels, some technical with a difficult entry. The highest one of 60 meter will be done in two parts. Halfway we change rope. Bended knees guaranteed! Meters long rain curtains we will pass. The sun creates a wonderful lightshow at the big waterfall. The end of the canyon is characterized by lush vegetation of ferns, moss and ivy. At the end we walk in 30 minutes along a small levada and between some abandoned terracing back to the starting point.
Schedule: everyday, all year round, with a minimum of 2 participants
Important to bring: towel, swimming clothes
Conditions: a lack of vertigo and rappelling experience are required for this tour
